Cats Flexible Packaging - a subsidiary of the Clondalkin Group of packaging companies - continues to grow successfully along the targets set in its Long Term Business Plan. Part of this positive achievement can be related to a series of production investments that have been realised in the recent months and years, such as a high volume slitter for wax paper and film, a high speed aluminium slitter and a new ink-mixing system (enabling the use a single ink source for the different printing techniques).
2005 was yet another year of good results and great decisions for the company. Indeed, the approval of the investment of a new high speed wax coater/laminator was granted to Cats Flexible Packaging.
The new wax coater/laminator is due to be installed at the Rotterdam based plant by the end of Q2, to be fully operational during the Q3 of the running year. With this new equipment, that includes the possibility of applying a one colour lacquer or print whilst laminating, Cats Flexible Packaging will set new boundaries in the production of waxed paper and wax laminates. Where today’s wax coater/laminators operate at respectful speeds of up to 300 m a minute, this new high speed machine will double this output by reaching speeds up to 600 m a minute. Furthermore, the web width of the wax coater/laminator was of course chosen in order to realise the optimal fit with the existing printing and slitting equipment, freeing up even more capacity for future plans.
Who ever says that waxed paper and wax based laminates are no longer of this time and have passed their life cycle are proven wrong.
